DriveStretchers can be used to enhance the capabilities of all our articulated (+ and Compact+) gearboxes. Most commonly, they are used to gain extra reach on the driven axle in locomotives, where the rear wheels are directly under the cab.

These extenders can be angled anywhere within a 180 degree arc: diagonally to achieve a specific height for slotting a motor inside a boiler barrel, or vertically to reach up into the saddle tank of a 7mm narrow gauge engine.

Note that DriveStretchers are specific to each gearbox (see the arcs marked 'D' on gearbox profiles) and are not interchangeable between types.
