The FlyShunter is a self-propelled wagon with endless potential applications, from gravity shunting to capstan haulage, cable inclines and horse shunting (you provide the horse).

For loose-shunting, the FlyShunter can be controlled independently of the locomotive, propelling the train so it glides slowly to a halt - with most types of wagon there’s plenty of room for a ‘chip’ to allow electronic control, although (with a bit of practice) a similar effect can be achieved using a conventional controller...

The high-reduction mechanism is designed to be almost entirely concealed inside a small (5-plank or over) wagon. Two wheelbase options, 9ft and 10ft, are available in the kit – this dictates the choice of motor used (Mashima 1424 and 1428 respectively.
